About Us
Why We Do It
Grace Acres Farms enjoys feeding the community and beyond with our unique and wholesome farm to table products. Compared to many other dairy breeds, the Kerry greatly support sustainable agriculture with fewer health issues. The Kerry cows routinely remain within the herd far longer than many other dairy animals and are highly efficient in converting grasses into milk. We are excited to offer upcoming farm tours where you can watch the rare Kerrys being milked by a robotic milker! Follow us on Facebook for upcoming news and events!!!
Why We Are Unique
One of only two rare dairy herds of Celtic Kerry cows call Grace Acres Farms home where they are rotationally grazed and fed a grass based diet for optimal cheese production. The kerry cows are milked by a Lely robotic milking unit which records data for milk production as well as for animal health. This is highly valuable for maximizing the best care for the Kerry’s and for the production of wholesome dairy products. We focus on A2 dairty products which has to do with the protein component of milk - yielding a non allergic milk source. So when consumed by those with typical dairy allergies do not experience common negative effects. Justin Price (Founder/Owner) is a licensed vetinaritan and runs all the genetics on the farms cattle.
- The fat globules of the Kerry milk are naturally smaller than milk from other dairy breeds making it more easily digestible and also a great choice for making cheese, butter, and ice cream.
- The Kerry are believe to be one of the oldest dairy breeds.
- Kerrys are an Irish dairy breed once milked by the Celts.
- Due to a smaller size and finer bones, the Kerry cause less damage to pastureland soils than compared to larger breeds.
- The genetics of the Kerrys goes back to ancient cattle breeds that are now extinct.
